SPF Timeline
1986
The Chairman & Sole owner of Saudi Pump Factory (SPF), Mr. Nabil H. Al-Hashim signs a technical agreement and license to manufacture pumps, with Thyssen Maschinenbau Ruhrpumpen GmbH of Germany.
1987
SAUDI PUMP FACTORY is officially launched and the latest CNC lathes and Machining Centers are installed making SPF one of the most technology-advanced manufacturing facilities for pumps.
1988
Production commences. The largest pump testing facility in the Middle East is put in place with capabilities of testing pumps up to 500 kW.
1989
The development of the Vertical Turbine Pump range is completed.
1990
SPF develops a new line of pipes for the deep-well agricultural industry under the name of “2-Seal Pipes”. It is made to answer the problems of corrosion that were being faced by farmers throughout Saudi Arabia. The new system gives a water-tight protection to the threads of the pipes.
1991
SPF signs a license agreement with Aurora Pump of the USA to manufacture a wide range of End Suction & Split Cage pumps for the building, municipal and fire fighting services.
1992
SPF further improves the 2-Seal Pipes into the all new “4-Seal design” solely developed at SPF. The pipes withstand pressures in excess of 50 bars without leak. SAUDI PUMP FACTORY expands its facilities by adding a new CNC Machining Center capable of running 36 hrs. unmanned.
1993
SPF signs a license agreement with the David Brown Union Pumps Ltd. of the U.K. to manufacture American Petroleum Institute (API) Pumps in the Saudi Arabia. SPF becomes the first and only one in the Middle East to manufacture pumps to the American Petroleum Institute (API) standards.
1994
SPF signs a license agreement with Bopp & Reuther Valves (VAG) of Germany to begin manufacturing valves for the water industry. An Electro-powder Coating facility is installed to meet standards of coating for potable water.
1995
SPF obtains ISO 9002 certification and becomes the first pump manufacturer in the Middle East to obtain this recognition for quality. SAUDI PUMP FACTORY adopts the “Pumps & Valves” insignia under its name.
1996
Saudi Pump Factory becomes the first and the only local approved manufacturer/supplier for Saudi Aramco within the Middle East.
1997 -
1998
An ANSI pump range is commissioned for development to meet the needs of the chemical, oil and gas markets. The line is called “ANSI Plus”..
1999
A new Division in SPF is launched under the name of Precision Engineering Technologies (PET) to offer SPF’s manufacturing service capabilities for sub-contract. Many international prestigious contracts are won.
2000
SPF further upgrades its testing capabilities upto 1-megawatt giving further substance to its already state-of-the-art manufacturing and servicing capabilities.
2001
The first order for “ANSI Plus” Pump is executed and delivered to Aramco.
2002
String Test of Multistage Pump at different
Speeds conducted at SPF Test Stand using Variable Speed Drives
supplied by ABB. The systems are installed in Aramco Haradh Gas
Project.
2004
Saudi Pump is approved by Saudi Aramco to Package Horizontal Multistage Pumps and other Pumps of higher Capacity that are not in the manufacturing range of Saudi Pump.
2005
Sump Pumps of Type API 610- VS4 developed
and first batch of pumps supplied and installed at Saudi
Aramco, Yanbu
2006
Fire Water Pumps, mounted on Loading
Platform, drawing water from sea, supplied and installed at
Ras Tanura Sea Islands (Loading Platforms). The Pumps are
Vertical Sump Pumps having length of 15 meters.
2008
Design Department is enhanced and Design and
Development is now included in ISO 9001 Certification.
2009
Quality Management System is upgraded and Certified conforming to ISO 9001-2008. Quality Management System upgraded including Compliance to ISO/TS 29001.
Saudi Pump entered in to license
agreement with Schafer & Urbach, Germany to manufacture
positive displacement pumps according to API 674 and Process
for Aramco approval started.
UL approval for spilt case pumps process
started.
PMI machine added in our facility to do
material inspection.
2010
Manufacturing facilities upgraded adding
additional machines;
Upgradation of Test Facilities with 4 MW
Power started.
Saudi Pump entered in to license
agreement with Enpro Industries to manufacture Lube Oil
Systems. Building, Manufacturing and Test Facilities provided
and Process for Aramco approval started.
First Major Contract to GS Engineering,
Korea for Aramco Manifa Project successfully executed.
